Kolaam Dance
Triton College’s Visual, Performing and Communication Arts Department is hosting a Global Music Series on Wednesday, April 9, from 1-2 p.m. in the Triton College Art Gallery, Room J-107 (J Building). Admission is free.
This performance will feature Kolaam Dance, a group of teaching artists led by Senegalese artist Idy Ciss. This family-friendly show is an interactive, live-drumming, heart-lifting, beat-making, earth-moving learning experience, rooted in the dance traditions of Senegal. Audience participation is encouraged!
“Through the Global Music Series, we offer free performances of exceptional quality,” said Salvatore Siriano, Triton’s lead music instructor. “Our concerts feature diverse programming that are accessible and enjoyable to music listeners of all ages.”
Siriano hopes that the Global Music Series exposes Triton students to a variety of musical sounds, helping them discover commonalities across ethnic traditions.
